This chicken egg is one of the biggest examples of an amniotic egg that can be found! In amniotic eggs the embryo can develop and grow in an environment outside the actual mother due to several protective inner membranes (most notably the amnion, which gives this adaptation its name) and one hard/crunchy exterior one that prevent desiccation/ foreign substances from disturbing it. The amniotic egg allowed for terrestrial development of embryonic offspring, which is pretty significant.
Pictures 22-23- Category 2: Different types of Carbohydrates
Pictured together in a one-night-only appearance on my kitchen counter are corn starch and granulated sugar, two different forms of carbohydrates. The corn starch is clearly a type of starch. Polysaccharides of many repeating glucose subunits, starches are plants' go-to molecules for energy storage. Corn contains a large amount of starch, as do potatoes, rice, and wheat. The granulated sugar, by contrast is a disaccharide of one fructose and one glucose molecule. It has a much simpler chemical structure and is best known for its appearance in basically everything we eat nowadays.

Pictures 24-25- Category 6: Organisms in Different Kingdoms
For this category I present two new examples of organisms that have already made appearances in my biology chronicle this summer. This moth was much less vibrantly colored than the first but no less photogenic. The slug looks almost exactly like the others (which I suppose is to be expected in that kind of slug). The moth belongs to the kingdom Animalia, along with humans, sea sponges, and chickadees (and lots of other creatures)! This turkeytail fungus, by contrast, belongs to the Fungi Kingdom, like yeast and mold! These two groups exemplify the level of diversity that our classification system has to deal with. It's easy to see how many categories and sub-categories we needed in order to understand it all.
