Cuticle layer of plant - leaves
The cuticle layer of this leaf (aka the epidermis) is a shiny wax like coating on the outside of the leaf. It helps the plant in many ways especially keeping the water in the plant from evaporating. The cuticle also protects the plant from chemicals and foreign particles in the air and helps to support the under layer of the leaf.



glycogen-
Glycogen is what we call carbohydrates that are stored in your body. Usually found in the liver and the body’s muscles glycogen stores  glucose (more commonly known as sugar)when the blood sugar gets too high, and when the blood sugar gets too low the body does the opposite and releases the glycogen. Epinephrine and glucagon are what controls the breakdown of glycogen. With diabetes the pancreas does not produce insulin which helps move sugar from the blood to be stored in the glycogen however, with the help of insulin the body is able to store glycogen.


Tropism - tree leaning
This tree above the skate has altered its growth upwards to the side as a way to get the most sunlight to flourish. In a forest when plants compete for the same resources, they will adapt like this tree to get the most of sunlight or what ever they need to survive. Tropism is the movements of a plant responding to a ‘directional stimulus’.

epithelial tissue - This picture of my hand is showing the epithelial tissue that covers my body. The cells that make up this type of tissue are tightly packed together and protect the underlying layers from damage/chemicals. By being tightly packed the tissue tends not to cause a lot of friction between the blood that runs through the blood vessels and the blood vessels themselves.  

adaptation of a plant - thorns
The adaptations of these thorns on this plant come from natural selection. These thorns help to increase this plants chance of survival by protecting it from animals that would try and use it as a resource. The thorns could help protect the plants when their water supply is low and from animals that would try and graze on the plant.
