A long-day plant is a plant that flowers once it has been exposed to light for a certain length of time. My example of this is lettuce.
12) The Auxin producing area of the plant
The Auxin producing area of the plant is at the tip of the stem. Auxin is a hormone in the plant that allows for new growth, like the beginning growth of leaves. My example is a picture of baby crab apples.
13) Basidiomycete
A basidiomycete is a subdivision of the fungi kingdom, and includes mushrooms. This is a special class because sexually, these mushrooms have spores on the Basidium.
14) CAM Plants
A CAM plant is very similar to C4 plants in that they both live in hot, dry conditions and have adapted to conserve water. At night, CAM plants open their stomata to buildup levels of CO2, but during the day photosynthesis takes place and the stomata close, which also prevents water from evaporating.
15) Ectotherm
The term ectotherm applies to animals that are cold blooded and can't maintain their own body temperature. In order to warm up their environment must be warm, and in order to cool down their environment must cool down. These animals have the same body temperature as their environment.
